On November 3, local time, Qorvo announced the acquisition of United Silicon Carbide (UnitedSiC), a US manufacturer of silicon carbide (SiC) power semiconductors.
The transaction amount has not been disclosed, but the acquisition will extend Qorvo's influence to the electric vehicle (EV), industrial power supply, circuit protection, renewable energy and data center power supply markets. UnitedSiC will be merged into Qorvo's Infrastructure and Defense Products (IDP) division.
According to the data, United Silicon Carbide's product portfolio now covers more than 80 SiC FET, JFET and Schottky diode devices. SiC is an important representative of third-generation semiconductors. Compared with traditional silicon materials, SiC can significantly improve system efficiency, including EV, EV charging and energy infrastructure.
