Rassini selects HexPly M901 prepreg system to develop automotive leaf springs

Rassini, a technology leader in composite automotive suspension systems in Mexico, has chosen HexPly M901 prepreg system from Hexcel, in order to use an easy-to-process material solution to carry out effective early design screening and achieve low-cost production. Thereby speeding up the development cycle of its prototypes and new products, shortening the overall time to market.

As a professional company that mass-produces composite material assisted leaf springs for leading OEMs, Rassini is constantly developing new suspension component designs, but due to cost and time constraints, these new products are not suitable for the use of traditional high-pressure resin transfer molds. Prototype manufacturing with HP-RTM technology.

With more than 15 years of experience in providing glass fiber reinforced prepregs for mass production of composite leaf springs, Hexcel has developed a high-performance HexPly M901 prepreg system specifically for such applications. HexPly M901 integrates correct structural performance and easy-to-process features, providing Rassini with an optimized and reliable material solution for rapid development and fine-tuning iterative design.

HexPly M901 is an epoxy resin prepreg system with a high glass transition temperature, which is specially developed for the application of structural components exposed to harsh thermal conditions. With a short curing cycle of 10 minutes or less, excellent green manufacturing, and high strength of demolded composite parts, HexPly M901 provides powerful comprehensive advantages for suspension parts applications.

In addition to playing an important role in the new product development cycle, HexPly M901 also provides significant advantages for low-volume mass production of composite single leaf springs. Its comprehensive mechanical properties are about 15% higher than standard prepregs with enhanced fatigue properties, and the cured glass transition temperature is as high as 200˚C. Therefore, HexPly M901 has established a new performance benchmark.
