Rogers Introduces ARLON® raPId Polyimide Substrate: New Solution to Improve Insulated Flexible Heater Process

Rogers Corporation (NYSE: ROG) introduces the ARLON® raPId ™ polyimide substrate, a new and innovative solution that streamlines the production process and improves performance of flexible heater applications. The raPId ™ substrate is a new structure that combines the advantages of a polyimide insulated heater with the flexibility and ease of use of a silicone bonding system.

The ARLON raPId substrate combines a polyimide film with a unique silicone adhesive, replacing traditional acrylic or fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) bonding systems. The product can be processed in less time at lower temperatures and pressures. These characteristics have caused major changes in the production process. The innovative thermosetting silicone bonding system can fix the etched foil circuit, thereby minimizing delamination and holes, and minimizing circuit looseness during stacking. During the streamlined process, ARLON raPId substrates reduce the curing temperature, pressure, and cycle time, thereby reducing production costs and increasing product value.

As a highly reliable material, the ARLON raPId substrate is an ideal replacement for acrylic or fluorinated ethylene propylene adhesives used in polyimide flexible heaters. It can be used for foil etching and wire wound insulation products. . In applications where temperature control is critical, these unique substrates are equipped with chemical resistant heaters to control the temperature of analytical test equipment, or to provide ultra-thin heater structures for outdoor electronic equipment, allowing them to be used in low temperature environments jobs. The rugged construction of ARLON raPId is also attractive for lightweight heaters for aviation equipment, which protects equipment at high altitudes from low temperature damage. For medical devices that require faster response heating systems, these innovative substrates can improve processing reliability and performance while minimizing processing difficulties.

Tim Wilson, market manager for the Rogers ARLON product family, said: "We are pleased to introduce you to raPId insulated flexible heaters. RaPId substrates are rigorous by combining the robustness of polyimide insulated heater technology with the robustness of silicone adhesive Ideal solution for control applications. "
