Sigmatex launched a recycled carbon fiber non-woven fabric, which reduces 500 tons of carbon fiber landfill waste annually

On September 8, Sigmatex, one of the global leaders in carbon fiber fabric design and production, announced the launch of a recycled carbon fiber non-woven fabric.

Sigmatex has long been committed to reducing the impact of composite material production on the environment, and based on this, has developed a production process that uses waste materials as raw materials, which is environmentally friendly and energy-saving. The carbon fiber non-woven fabric produced in this way is versatile and easy to process. By 2025, it can reduce 500 tons of landfill waste every year.

According to Sigmatex, the non-woven fabric produced by this method has good carbon filament surface sizing agent, tight bonding between fiber and resin, gram weight ranging from 100gsm to 600gsm, good mechanical properties, and suitable for processing into prepregs.

Paul McMullan, Commercial Director of Sigmatex commented: “One of the most important considerations when choosing a recycled carbon fiber product is the energy consumption of carbon fiber recycling. Compared with other chemical or pyrolysis methods, our process only requires 10% of the energy consumption of the former. -20%, a significant advantage."
