Solvay expands thermoplastic composites capacity at U.S. plant

Solvay decided to expand its production capacity of thermoplastic composites by adding a new production line at its plant in Anaheim, California. This expansion highlights Solvay's technical strength in the field of thermoplastic composites and effectively responds to the strong market demand of customers in the aerospace industry.

With the commissioning of this new production line and the upgrading of existing production lines, Solvay's composite material capacity will be expanded to four times the level in 2016. The expansion is not only to increase output, but also to improve product quality, improve process consistency, and ensure the stability of the supply chain.

Augusto Di Donfrancesco, a member of Solvay's Executive Committee, said: "The significant expansion in a short period of time, coupled with the relentless focus on overall quality and productivity, has strengthened Solvay Leading position in materials innovation. We are committed to providing the best service to our customers, and our materials can effectively reduce manufacturing time and costs, thereby helping customers increase productivity. "

Solvay announced in May this year to create its first horizontal strategic platform, integrating the Group's unparalleled product portfolio and expertise in the field of specialty polymers and carbon fiber composites to accelerate the development of thermoplastic composites. These lightweight materials can replace metal parts in aircraft and automobiles, achieve emissions reduction goals, and help aircraft and automotive system design and integration. In other applications, including oil and gas pipelines, it is the best choice to replace steel materials and achieve low cost and high strength.
