Solvay introduces improved version of Technyl One halogen-free flame retardant polyamide

Solvay has introduced an improved version of Technyl One, a series of halogen-free flame-retardant materials.

The company said that the new generation of products meets the challenges of digital transformation of cities by providing better performance, security and environmental protection.

"Fast-evolving 'intelligent technologies' have triggered the increase in security systems and their connectivity, as well as the management of intelligent networks. This requires solutions that meet higher performance, sustainability and cost-effectiveness," Solvay Florence Schutz, global market manager for performance polyamides, explained.

"To support the emergence of these new applications, such as smart meters and circuit breakers, we have strengthened the range of the Technyl One product. It paves the way for more complex designs, providing enhanced processability and resistance in accordance with the latest safety standards Flammability, while providing a sustainable halogen-free solution. "

The new generation of Technyl One increases the potential for miniaturization of electrical and connected safety systems while maintaining the same level of safety as the previous generation.

With a wall thickness of 0.4mm, these devices are said to meet UL941 V0 standards, ensuring the best performance (relative thermal index) at 150 ° C, and fire resistance (glow wire ignition temperature) up to 800 ° C2.

Solvay said that this material also has good environmental properties, which can avoid waste and reduce corrosion by more than 70% compared with traditional high-temperature halogen-free polymers.

"Technyl One is a unique and unparalleled product on the market and is ideal for systems requiring best-in-class electrical and fire performance," Schutz added.

"Thanks to our solution, the main players in this industry have been able to optimize the design of some electrical equipment while maintaining the same level of safety. In some cases, OEM factories have changed their production processes and replaced them with Technyl One Traditional materials. "
