The film made of Halar ECTFE, combined with additional plasma treatment, has excellent adhesion to the composite substrate, providing excellent aesthetic surface characteristics, making it integrated with the surrounding environment.
Solvay's high-performance Halar ECTFE is a partially fluorinated semi-crystalline polymer that is used as a protective layer for engine noise ring plates to withstand the harsh environment at the entrance of typical aircraft engines. It is strong and tough, resistant to corrosion, abrasion, and aircraft chemicals and liquids, making it ideal for this application.
Solvay's Halar ECTFE film maintains its performance over a wide temperature range and exhibits particularly excellent impact resistance at low temperatures. It exhibits excellent corrosion performance, strong resistance to ultraviolet radiation, and can be considered as an excellent barrier for water vapor, oxygen, and other small gas molecules.
It is lightweight and durable, and due to its inherent flame retardancy, it meets the stringent requirements of the aerospace industry for fire resistance and burn through resistance.
