South Korea’s SK Innovation will build a new lithium-ion battery separator (LiBS) and ceramic coated separator (CCS) production plant in Changzhou, Jiangsu.

SK Innovation's legal representative and president, Jin Jun, announced on October 7 that they will build new lithium-ion battery separators (LiBS) and ceramic-coated separators (CCS, Ceramics) Coated Separator) production plant.

SK Innovation is the first and the third company in the world to industrialize lithium diaphragm technology.

According to PR Newswire, the project investment scale is about 400 billion won (about 2.44 billion yuan). The factory is located in Jintan Economic Development Zone, Changzhou, covering an area of ​​more than 140,000 square meters. There will be 4 production lines for lithium ion battery separator And 3 ceramic coated diaphragm production lines.

SK Innovation plans to start construction early next year and strive to start mass production from the third quarter of 2020. In terms of annual output of the new plant, lithium-ion battery separators are 340 million square meters, and ceramic-coated separators are 130 million square meters. After the plant is completed, the total output of SKInnovation's lithium-ion battery separators will increase to 850 million square meters per year.

SK Innovation became the earliest in Korea in 2004 and the third factory in the world to develop lithium-ion battery separators. In 2011, the world's earliest completed the commercialization of ceramic-coated separators. This is the first time that SK Innovation has promoted materials business projects overseas.
