A joint research team composed of Kanazawa University, Tohoku University, Osaka University, and Tsukuba University has mathematically designed a graphene edge structure composed of single-layer carbon atoms, and chemically doped nitrogen into the edge structure of graphene ( N) and phosphorus (P), purposefully formed geometric deformation.
Based on this calculation, it was found that graphene with chemically doped edge structure has a high hydrogen generation capacity, which can greatly enhance the hydrogen generation reaction. The results obtained are close to the use of the expensive precious metal platinum, thus for the first time confirming that Chemical doping and specially designed graphene edge structure help to improve the reaction performance of the electrode.
