Steelhead Composite and Graphmatech are developing hydrogen storage tank improved with graphene

Two Swedish companies, Steelhead Composite and Graphmatech, will develop and produce new high-performance IV pressure vessel liners.

Expected improvements include reducing hydrogen leakage and increasing resistance to extreme heat and pressure conditions.

The partnership combines Steelhead's leading pressure vessel technology, service and market position with Graphmatech's graphene polymer composites to achieve a hydrogen economy.

Graphmatech is applying for a patent to uniformly mix graphene sheets in the polymer matrix, retaining many amazing material properties of graphene. Compared with competitive materials, the resulting graphene polymer composites, among other things, have poorer gas permeability, stronger conductivity, stronger thermal conductivity, and are easier to process in various manufacturing technologies.

"Cooperation with Steelhead composite materials is a big step in our mission to achieve the green transformation of graphene. We are eager to jointly develop and launch this graphene enhanced hydrogen pressure vessel liner," said the CEO and founder of graphene materials.

"When we strive to manufacture and provide the best hydrogen storage solutions globally, we are very happy to be able to use innovative technologies such as graphene polymer composites," said the CEO of Steelhead Composites.
