Sucheta Govil will be Chief Commercial Officer of Covestro, responsible for polyurethane, polycarbonate and coatings, adhesives and specialty chemicals

Materials maker Covestro has selected a new chief commercial officer to fill its last vacant seat on the board. The supervisory board unanimously approved Sucheta Govil, 55, to the post at a meeting on Tuesday. She will succeed Dr. Markus Steilemann as Chief Commercial Officer on August 1, 2019. In addition to his role as CEO, Dr. Xerox currently serves as Chief Commercial Officer. Govil will be responsible for the three business segments polyurethane, polycarbonate and coatings, adhesives and specialty chemicals. In addition, as a member of the board of directors, she will be responsible for the operation of the newly formed Central Marketing Department and the innovation management and business services and supply chain centers in the three regions.

Sucheta Govil was born in India in September 1963. Since October 1, 2018, she has been a non-executive director of Eurocell plc, a leading building products supplier based in London. Prior to that, she held market leadership positions at life sciences and materials science company DSM (Netherlands) and AkzoNobel Decorative Coatings (UK). In addition, she has served as Pepsi's vice president of innovation, business and marketing for the Asia, Middle East and Africa markets, and as general manager of GlaxoSmithKline's global nutrition category in India and the United Kingdom. Sucheta Govil holds a postgraduate diploma in business management from the Indian School of Management, Kolkata, and a bachelor's degree in economics from St. Stephen's College, University of Delhi.
