Taiwan`s touch panel maker Tak Hung Technology (TPK) recently stated that it is expected to provide BOE with silver nano touch solutions for large-size digital whiteboards as early as the third quarter of 2019.
TPK CEO and President Leo Hsieh revealed at the company ’s latest investor conference that the equipment for the production of silver nano touch solutions will be completed in the third quarter of 2019, which will lay the foundation for the company to begin mass production of related products.
Hsieh said sampling and verification of the company ’s silver nano-touch solution for foldable smartphones or large-size display applications is underway, and customer devices made using the new solution may be available in late 2019 or early 2020. However, as the production of foldable smartphones will still be limited in the coming year, it is difficult for silver nano touch solutions to account for 10-20% of revenue in 2020. According to industry sources, TPK therefore cooperated with BOE to develop silver nano touch products for large-scale display applications, and will begin mass production in the third quarter.
In the first quarter of 2019, TPK's consolidated revenue was NT $ 31.156 billion and net profit was NT $ 24 million (US $ 775,992) or NT $ 0.06 per share.
Due to the increase in shipments of touch solutions for laptops and large-sized tablets, revenue in the first quarter decreased by 26.9% month-on-month, but gross profit margin increased from 3.7% in the previous quarter to 3.9%.
TPK said that due to the investment in silver nano product production equipment, compared with the capital expenditure of NT $ 590 million in the previous quarter, the capital expenditure in the next quarter will increase to NT $ 1 billion.
