It seems that the recall is not a particularly glorious thing. But my brother thinks that the implementation of the recall can at least show that the manufacturers are actively facing the problem, and it is worth affirming that they should stop losses and take the initiative to take responsibility. If the manufacturer finds the problem and refuses to cover it up, it will only be harmful to the consumers.

According to the statistics of the recall announcement issued by the Defective Product Management Center of the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, from July 1 to September 30 this year, the domestic automobile market initiated a total of 42 recall announcements, involving 2.29 million vehicles involving 23 automobile brands. , An increase of 35.53% month-on-month, and a decrease of 60.57% year-on-year. The most important reason for the recall is the failure of airbags, engines and fuel systems.

Judging from the number of models, the recall of automobiles has a sharp downward trend, which can explain to a certain extent that the brand's product strength is gradually increasing. However, from the overall trend, the number of automobile recalls is still high. On the third quarter, it is recalled on average every 2.16 days. The recall seems to have become the industry normal.

Compared with the third quarter of last year, the total number of automobile recalls in the third quarter of this year has declined to a certain extent. Of the total recalls in the third quarter of this year, the Japanese and Korean models became the main car recalls, with the recalls exceeding 900,000 and 300,000, respectively, accounting for 57.59% of the recalls in the third quarter. Compared with the same period last year, Japanese and Korean car companies have seen a significant increase in both the frequency and number of recalls.

Takata airbags triggered a global car recall in 2017, and the size of Takata airbags still makes me still remember. In 2018, there were also a lot of models to be recalled due to the impact of Takata airbags, with a total of about 2 million. Auto companies including Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Ford, Toyota, and Nissan initiated related recalls.

What my brother did not expect was that in the third quarter of this year, there were still many models recalled due to Takata airbags, accounting for 32.82% of the total recalled vehicles, ranking first. Most of the brands affected this time are Japanese and luxury brands, including Toyota, Honda and Mercedes. However, compared with the previous recall scale of hundreds of thousands of vehicles, the number of recalls due to Takata airbags has decreased significantly, which means that the impact of the "Takata Airbag Incident" is nearing completion.

In addition, the share of software failures has even increased. In the first half of this year, about 80,000 vehicles were recalled due to software program-related failures, and in the third quarter they have increased to nearly 180,000. Among them, most vehicles are recalled due to the problems of the three control units: the engine control unit, the power system control module, and the body control module. It should be known that once these three control units have problems while the vehicle is driving, it is very likely that the engine will stall without warning and the danger is high.

In addition to traditional fuel vehicles, there were also many recalls of new energy vehicles in the third quarter. Due to the surge in the number of new energy vehicles, under the state of new energy technology being immature, the number of defective vehicles is also increasing. Following the launch of the Weilai ES8 in June due to a power battery failure, Nanjing Jinlong and BAIC Prestige successively launched recalls for previous electric vehicle fire failures. Among them, BAIC New Energy decided to recall some Weiwang 407 EV series electric vans produced from June 11, 2018 to November 30, 2018, starting from July 13, 2019, totaling 1,389 vehicles.

Among the new energy models recalled in the third quarter, there were mainly defects in batteries and brake booster vacuum pumps. Obviously, if there is a safety failure of these two major systems, it may greatly affect the life and safety of drivers and passengers. For the high-quality development of new energy vehicles, the state implements all-round supervision of new energy vehicles. As long as it finds defects in new energy vehicles, it must stop production and implement recalls.

We also need to know that the existence of too many overcharged products will definitely have a negative impact on an industry, especially new energy vehicles. The continuous occurrence of spontaneous combustion or collision and fire accidents will keep consumers lingering. At present, new energy subsidies are also exiting in an orderly manner, which means that car companies must launch higher-quality products in order to be recognized by the market, otherwise they can only exit the market.

Judging from the number of vehicle recalls, the number of recalls in the third quarter of this year was less than in the same period of previous years. However, my brother thinks that whether it is Japanese, Korean or independent brands, the initiative to recall is already an improvement. In the new energy market, due to the rapid development in recent years, many links may not be up to speed, causing many new energy models to fail frequently. Today, we have seen the birth of high-quality new energy models such as Geometry A and Aion S, and we know that new energy vehicles are also gradually entering the era of "quality is king".
