Techsil has developed a transparent epoxy adhesive, EP25880 Clear, that cures quickly and forms a strong, tough, and durable bond on carbon fiber composite parts.
Steve Green, an application engineer at Techsil, explains: "We have worked with many companies that manufacture and assemble composite materials and need to find a product that quickly and neatly bonds carbon fiber materials. There are expensive bonds on the market Agent, but according to research, the results were not ideal. Now, Techsil has developed a custom cost-effective 1: 1 epoxy formulation that cleans and cures in 5 minutes.
During the test, a 56-pound bench weight test was performed on the two bonded carbon fiber components for 30 minutes without affecting the bonding to the joints. The parts are then cleaned, and the joint is aesthetically acceptable.
Techsil EP25880 Clear is a two-component, multi-purpose epoxy adhesive, ideal for bonding a variety of substrates including carbon fiber, wood, ceramics, and metals. And it is completely cured into a water-cleanable product with an edge hardness of 80D, a shear strength greater than 20 MPa, and a tensile strength greater than 30 MPa.
Techsil has just launched the product to a wider market and hopes to attract widespread attention from other composite manufacturers.
