Teijin strengthens aircraft high-performance composite business and continues to supply carbon fiber to Bombardier

Teijin Limited has announced that it has reached a renewal agreement with Bombardier Aviation Structures and Engineering Services to continue to provide Tenax carbon fiber materials to the latter for a seven-year contract that expires in 2025.

Teijin regards the aircraft application business as one of its growth strategies for the 2017-2019 mid-term management plan and is vigorously accelerating the development of middle and downstream applications, such as providing cost-effective carbon fiber with higher toughness and higher tensile modulus, intermediate materials Including TENAX TPUD, carbon fiber thermoplastic consolidated laminate TENAX TPCL, thermoset prepreg and non-roll fabric.

Looking ahead, Teijin plans to further strengthen its carbon fiber and intermediate materials business and become a leading solution provider for aircraft applications. The company aims to have annual sales of more than $ 900 million in aircraft applications by 2030.

Previously, Teijin reached an agreement with Bombardier in 2010 to provide Tenax carbon fiber materials for the primary and secondary composite structures of its manufactured aircraft. This material has been used in fuselage primary structures, including wing, center wing box structure and tail wing applications.
