The 48K large tow carbon fiber production base starts commercial production Hay:D01SHSH

On October 13, 2020, China's first 10000 ton 48K large tow carbon fiber production facility officially started commercial production.

The product performance is comparable to the same level products in the United States and abroad, and the quality reaches the international advanced level.

SHSH Composite Technology Corporation is the first enterprise in China and the fourth enterprise in the world to master the production technology of large tow carbon fibers.

In the carbon fiber industry, those with more than 48000 carbon fibers per bundle (48K for short) are usually called large tow carbon fibers.

This 48K large tow carbon fiber domestic line can realize large-scale and high-quality production. The project adopts PAN (polyacrylonitrile) based large tow precursor and carbon fiber technology independently developed by China.

The new production base has the production capacity of 24000 tons/year precursor and 12000 tons/year large tow carbon fiber.

The large tow carbon fiber has excellent performance and is known as the "king of new materials" and "black gold". The large tow carbon fiber developed and produced by Shanghai Petrochemical is a new high-strength fiber material with a carbon content of more than 95%. Its mechanical properties are excellent, its proportion is less than a quarter of that of steel, its strength is 7 to 9 times that of steel, and it also has corrosion resistance.

In addition, the biggest advantage of 48K large tow is that under the same production conditions, it can not only greatly improve the single line capacity and quality performance of carbon fiber, but also achieve low-cost production, thus breaking the application limitations of carbon fiber caused by the high price.

Large bundles of carbon fiber are widely used in many applications, such as wind energy, solar energy, high-speed rail motor cars, aircraft components, etc.

For a long time, China's carbon fiber development has mainly achieved breakthroughs in small tow carbon fiber. However, the high cost of small tow carbon fiber has affected the enthusiasm of downstream enterprises to apply carbon fiber.

The localization of carbon fiber makes the application of carbon fiber in new energy and other downstream markets gradually break out, which helps promote the rapid development of related industries in China and the adjustment of related industrial structure.
