The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is in a high-temperature and high-humidity marine climate environment, and it must inevitably require metal materials to have harsh anti-corrosion properties, while weathering steel can use a stable rust layer to prevent corrosion to meet the 120-year design life requirements of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. Aiming at the problems of difficult to control the quality of weathering steel welding metallurgy and the difficulty of guaranteeing the corrosion performance of the weld seam, Wang Qingfeng, the advanced steel materials research team of the State Key Laboratory of Metastable Material Preparation Technology and Science and the National Cold Rolled Strip Engineering Technology Research Center The team cooperated with HBZT Tunnel Bridge Technology Group Co., Ltd. to apply weathering steel to the welding manufacturing of the anchor tower of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. The research group optimized the welding materials and welding process, so that the quality of welding metallurgy, joint mechanical properties and corrosion resistance have reached the design requirements, ensuring the excellent performance of key components for 120 years without corrosion. This is also the first time that weathering steel has been used in domestic sea-crossing bridge projects.
