In the application of lithium batteries, wet-process separators have certain advantages in mechanical properties, air permeability, and physical and chemical properties compared with dry-process separators. If a layer of coating is added, the thermal stability of wet-process separators can be greatly improved. The wet method diaphragm has gradually replaced the dry method diaphragm as a trend.
Based on this, SZXY actively implemented strategic transformation and quickly entered the field of wet diaphragms. In 2016, the company built a wet diaphragm production line and ceramic coating production line with an annual output of 80 million square meters, which was put into use in the first phase of 2017; in 2017, the company invested in the construction of a wet diaphragm and coating production line for lithium batteries with an annual output of 360 million square meters. The project was put into commissioning operation at the end of 2018.
Beginning in 2018, the company's wet-process diaphragm production capacity has been gradually released. By the first quarter of 2019, the company's wet-process diaphragm shipment share has accounted for 3%, and it has further increased to 8% by the end of 2019. With the gradual release of production capacity, the shipment share of SZXY wet process diaphragms is gradually increasing, and it is expected to further increase in the future.
In the first half of 2020, SZXY's wet diaphragm production volume was 187 million square meters, and its sales volume was 115 million square meters. Wet diaphragm production accounted for 68.17% and sales accounted for 51.83%, becoming the company's main product.
Increased share of major customers, exclusive supply of BYD blade lithium battery separators
For new energy battery material manufacturers, on the basis of advanced technology, it is more important to obtain as many customers as possible. SZXY, as the earliest enterprise engaged in the research and development of lithium battery separator technology in China, currently main customers basically include major domestic battery manufacturers , Such as BYD, CATL, Guoxuan Hi-Tech [Volkswagen’s Chinese joint venture], etc.
SZXY is one of the first major customers to establish a cooperative relationship with BYD. The company has always attached importance to all aspects of cooperation with BYD. At present, the company is the exclusive supplier of BYD blade battery separators.
