The FuPro project of continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composite material by LANXESS in Germany won the gold prize in the surface treatment and technology category at the eMove360 ° European Mobile Travel Conference

The FuPro project covers the design and process development of a functional multi-component structure with complex hollow profiles. It won the gold medal in the surface treatment and technology category at the eMove360 ° European Mobile Travel Conference in Munich, Germany.

According to LANXESS, the project involves combining fiber composite module systems, organic sheets, fiber composite hollow profiles and injection molding compounds to form a multi-component structure. The organic sheet is made of LANXESS 'Tepex dynalite 102-RG600 semi-finished material. The purpose of the project is to improve the integration of craftsmanship, structure and function by combining hollow profiles, flat building components and complex joint structures, and to significantly reduce the weight of the vehicle structure.

Lightweight design is a key technology and a necessary prerequisite for resource-efficient mobile travel. In addition, the use of fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP) allows each component to be optimized according to the force flow. Thermoplastic FRP is used in high-volume production in the automotive industry because cycle times of less than one minute can usually be achieved in component production.
