The high-performance fiber testing platform of the carbon fiber team of China NB Materials Institute successfully passed the CNAS on-site review

From August 29th to 30th, the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS) appointed 4 experts to conduct the 2020 laboratory re-assessment and expansion review of the NB Material Institute, a high-performance fiber testing platform for the carbon fiber and composite material team Completed 12 standard expansion items and successfully passed the on-site assessment.

The carbon fiber and composite material team’s high-performance fiber testing platform has professional testing platforms such as the National Development and Reform Commission’s Carbon Fiber Characterization and Testing Service Platform, and the China Chemical Fiber Association National High-performance Fiber Characterization and Testing Base. 15 test standard methods have been approved by CNAS. Enterprises and institutions in the industry provide testing services and applied for expansion of 12 new test standard methods in this review.

At the review meeting, the expert review team reviewed existing standard methods and new and expanded items through on-site listening reports, consulting quality management system documents and technical files, on-site questions, and laboratory field investigations based on the corresponding plans and accreditation rules and other documents. After the review, after the final review, the high-performance fiber testing platform successfully passed the CNAS review.

Up to now, the 27 standard methods certified by CNAS on this platform cover the entire chain of carbon fiber raw materials, carbon fiber precursors, and carbon fiber products, involving standard testing methods from raw material testing, production process control, and product performance characterization. Related test items in the carbon fiber field, such as: raw material acrylonitrile purity and impurity content, carbon fiber strand tensile properties, strand solvent residue, crude fiber oil content, carbon fiber tensile properties, carbon fiber resistivity, ash content, etc., can be issued with CNAS certification Test Report.

In addition to carbon fiber, this platform is also responsible for the development of various high-performance fiber (silicon carbide, aramid, polyimide, glass fiber, basalt, etc.) testing methods. The expanded review also includes six standard testing items including the mechanical properties of silicon carbide bundle filaments, the mechanical properties of monofilaments, and the high-temperature strength retention rate of monofilaments. At present, it has been used by many domestic enterprises in the field of silicon carbide fiber testing. The unit provides professional testing services.

The smooth passing of the CNAS re-assessment and expansion review marks that the team's technical capabilities and management level in the field of high-performance fiber testing have been recognized again. In the future, the team will always adhere to the construction of testing and inspection capabilities and improve the testing and inspection system. Introduction of high performance fiber testing platform

The high-performance fiber characterization and testing service platform of the carbon fiber and composite materials team of the NB Institute of Materials of the Chinese Academy of Sciences is responsible for the development of various high-performance fiber (carbon fiber, silicon carbide, aramid, polyimide, glass fiber and basalt, etc.) testing methods. It has a relatively complete testing system, has provided testing services for many domestic units, and has been widely recognized by the industry in carbon fiber characterization testing. In 2011, the Chemical Fiber Association listed this test platform as the "National High Performance Fiber Characterization and Testing Base". In 2013, the "Carbon Fiber Characterization and Testing Service Platform" received industrialization support from the National Development and Reform Commission. Up to now, this test platform has carried out a total of more than 80 test projects, and 27 test methods have been certified by the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS).

In the field of high-performance fiber standardization technology, this platform has established a carbon fiber industry standard testing method system and formed a carbon fiber testing demonstration platform. It has formulated or participated in the formulation of a total of 12 national standards and industry standards, among which it is the first completion unit Draft 8 items. In the future, we will further improve the high-performance fiber testing methods and establish related testing standards to promote the establishment of a unified and objective evaluation system for the high-performance fiber industry as soon as possible, thereby promoting the healthy and rapid development of the domestic high-performance fiber industry.
