The highly automated steel plate production line of General Dynamics' National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO) was officially put into use. The new production line uses laser-arc hybrid welding technology and CNC robots, which can produce 5 mm thick steel plates, and can mill, weld and weld the steel plates without distortion during the welding process. This production line can significantly improve the quality and service life of steel plates, and double the qualification rate of steel plates. The new production line is currently being used for the construction of two container ships of the United States Mason Steamship Company and the US Navy's first "John Lewis" fuel supply ship.
