The ISO 22685 international standard project for the high-temperature compressive strength of refractory materials prepared by China was approved

Recently, we learned from Wuhan University of Science and Technology that the “High Temperature Compressive Strength of Refractory Materials” submitted by the school`s refractory standards team-ISO 22685 International Standard Project (hereinafter referred to as the “ISO 22685 Project”) passed the vote and entered the publishing stage. Released and implemented on September 15. This standard is also the first international test method standard for testing the high temperature compressive strength of refractory materials.

The ISO 22685 project working group is composed of experts from eight countries including China, the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Germany. The specific work is carried out by the Refractory Standards Team of Wuhan University of Science and Technology.

Refractories are the basic materials for high-temperature industries and are widely used in steel, building materials, chemicals, aerospace and other fields. When the deformation rate exceeds 1%, the use of refractory materials will have safety hazards. At a certain temperature, how much pressure can the refractory material withstand? Before ISO 22685 was approved, there was no accurate numerical standard in the world. After the issuance and implementation of this international standard, it can guide the industry in the use of refractory materials, promote the improvement of product quality control and the development and utilization of new materials, and promote efficient production, energy conservation and emission reduction, and trade exchanges in refractory-related industries.

According to Li Yawei, the leader of the refractory standards team at Wuhan University of Science and Technology, the approval of international standards this time breaks the traditional Chinese national standard delaying the adoption of ISO international standards, and enhances China's voice and influence in the field of global refractories.
