Avoury, a new brand under the well-known hot beverage group Melitta Single Portions, is cooperating with SABIC to use its TRUCIRCLE solutions and services to develop groundbreaking organic tea capsules. The tea capsules are certified by SABIC and recycled from waste plastics. Made of propylene (PP).
Avoury is one of the first companies to adopt SABIC's first TRUCIRCLE solution, which is used for certified recycled PP–SABIC QRYSTAL copolymers made from post-consumer recycled plastics. The release of the new product represents the industry’s innovative use of recycled transparent plastic tea capsules and is an important step towards the future of producing more sustainable products.
The capsule is specially made for the new Avoury One tea machine launched at the end of last year. With this tea machine, consumers can make a cup of high-quality tea at the touch of a button. Transparent tea capsules bring a better consumer experience, allowing them not only to taste high-quality tea, but also to peek the tea inside through the capsule.

SABIC said that TRUCIRCLE's product portfolio and services are an important milestone in the realization of a closed-loop and plastic circular economy, and manufacturers can reduce plastic waste by using sustainable materials. The TRUCIRCLE product portfolio covers recyclable designs, physical recycling products, certified recycling products for waste plastic recycling, and renewable product designs for bio-based raw material certification.
