On November 13, Hunan Province started the SDTY Silicon Carbide Project. This marks the official start of the largest third-generation semiconductor silicon carbide material project and complete process production line in China.
SDTY Silicon Carbide Material Project was developed by SDTY Crystal Material Co., Ltd. With a total investment of 3 billion yuan, the first phase mainly produces silicon carbide conductive substrates, and the second phase mainly produces functional devices, including power device packages, modules and devices. Energy vehicles and charging station equipment, rail transit traction converters, solar photovoltaic inverters, etc.
The core technology of silicon carbide semiconductor is the country's top weapon, the core material supporting key equipment, and is included in the national strategic materials. Shandong Tianyue's silicon carbide semiconductor material technology has reached the international advanced level. Some products in the world, only Shandong Tianyue and an American company can mass-produce, taking on the heavy task of revitalizing China's next-generation semiconductor industry. Hunan has CRRC branch, new energy automobile industry, integrated circuit industry, and National Defense University of Science and Technology. It has both a broad market application demand and a foundation for military-civilian integration. Changsha is vigorously promoting the construction of the third-generation semiconductor industry as a key breakthrough area in the carbon-based materials industry chain. With Liuyang High-tech Zone as the core platform, it is fully building multi-chain integration such as the industrial chain, innovation chain, talent chain, and policy chain. Industrial ecology accelerates the formation of the tipping point for the development of a new generation of semiconductor industry. SDTY chose to settle in Changsha, adding a "new engine" to the development of Changsha's carbon-based materials industry.
