The titanium alloy drill pipe developed by China Drill Pipe Corporation was successfully used in oil wells Hay:A04BHNK

Recently, China`s self-developed high-strength titanium alloy drill pipe successfully completed 7,100-meter ultra-deep well drilling in the Western Oilfield, marking another major progress in the R&D of oil and gas well tubing in the field of deep and ultra-deep wells in China, which will effectively increase the current ultra-deep and short radius Drilling efficiency and safety in harsh conditions such as horizontal wells.

Compared with traditional steel drill pipes, high-strength titanium alloy drill pipes have the characteristics of light weight, high rigidity, corrosion resistance and fatigue resistance. They are suitable for drilling deep wells, ultra-deep wells, short-radius horizontal wells and high-acid oil and gas fields. Widely used in areas such as the Gulf of Mexico.

At present, a few countries such as the United States can produce and supply such products, but they are expensive and have a long order cycle. In order to meet the demand for high-strength titanium alloy drill pipes of domestic oil and gas field enterprises to "increase exploration and development", in 2016, the project of "Deep and Ultra-Deep Well Efficient and Rapid Drilling Technology and Equipment" was included in the national science and technology major project of "Large Oil and Gas Field and Coal Bed Gas Development" With the support of, ZGSY Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Technology Research Institute and BHNK Drill Pipe Technology Co., Ltd. and other units jointly carried out research on domestically produced titanium alloy drill pipes, and successfully developed high-strength titanium alloy drill pipes with independent intellectual property rights, which filled the domestic similar The product is blank.

In June 2020, the domestic high-strength titanium alloy drill pipe completed the first 6400-meter ultra-deep well drilling in the Sinopec Northwest Oilfield. On July 16th, it successfully completed the third opening of an ultra-short-radius horizontal well with a design depth of 7100 meters in the Western Oilfield. The directional deflection sidetracking task and the successful exit of the well set a new record for ultra-deep well drilling applications.

The domestically made high-strength titanium alloy drill pipe will effectively prevent the traditional steel drill pipe from being prone to failure accidents such as overload, puncture, leakage and corrosion under severe working conditions such as ultra-deep short radius sidetracking. The relevant results will promote titanium alloy drilling. The large-scale application of rod technology in China has provided strong technical support for improving the development of ultra-deep and short-radius drilling technologies in China.
