The wide-width ultra-thin iron-based nanocrystalline ribbon developed by a Chinese nanocrystalline ultra-thin ribbon manufacturer won the award Hay:F05QDYL

Recently, the review results of the "Metallurgical Science and Technology Award" of the China Iron and Steel Industry Association and the China Institute of Metals in 2021 were announced. The "Development and Application of Engineering Technology for Wide-width and Ultra-thin Iron-based Nanocrystalline Strips" declared by QDYL Amorphous Alloy Technology Coporation won the "2021" "Metallurgical Science and Technology Award" special prize.

The "Metallurgical Science and Technology Award" is the highest science and technology award in the iron and steel industry officially approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology. It is of great significance to promote technological innovation and technological progress in China's metallurgical industry.

Background of the project

In recent years, with the invention of the third-generation wide-bandgap semiconductors and breakthroughs in industrial application technology, the design, promotion and application of high-frequency, high-power, and low-loss electromagnetic components have become possible. Nanocrystalline soft magnetic alloys have both high saturation magnetic induction, High permeability, low loss and other advantages, as the metal soft magnetic material with the most excellent comprehensive performance in the 3kHz-100kHz frequency band, it has become a boost to power electronics, new energy vehicles, smart grids, information and communications and other strategic emerging industries to high frequency, The core basic material for the development of high efficiency, miniaturization, light weight and low energy consumption. Electronic components, information communications, new energy vehicles and consumer electronics have proposed ultra-thin (≤18μm), high-frequency permeability (μ100kHz>30,000), and low loss (P0.5T, 10kHz≤3W/kg) performance Requirements; high-power high-frequency transformers in the field of smart grid and rail transit put forward the development requirements of wide (≥100mm), ultra-thin (14-18μm) and low loss (P0.5T, 10kHz≤3W/kg) for nanocrystalline materials . The continuous emergence of new application fields provides broad application prospects for the development of soft magnetic materials.

Before the start of the project, both domestic and foreign strip manufacturers used a non-continuous single-package process, with a single furnace of molten steel only 200-300kg, an annual production capacity of less than 300 tons, and low production efficiency. The nanocrystalline strips supplied by China have a width of less than 60mm, a strip thickness of more than 20μm, high loss (P0.5T, 20kHz>30W/kg), poor uniformity, and high costs that need to be resolved urgently. The problem of “no material available” for China’s wide-width and ultra-thin nanocrystalline strips is very prominent, restricting the advancement of China’s power electronics, information communications, new energy vehicles and other industries and the modernization of the industrial chain. Therefore, it has broken through the bottleneck of industrial development and achieved high The continuous production of high-quality wide-width ultra-thin nanocrystalline strips is imminent.

QDYL has always adhered to independent innovation. Through a joint technological innovation platform, it has developed continuous production equipment and manufacturing processes for ultra-thin nanocrystalline strips, filling the gap in wide-width ultra-thin nanocrystalline strips and continuous manufacturing technology. At present, the nanocrystalline ultra-thin ribbon produced by the company has a width of up to 142mm, which can meet the performance and size requirements of high-power mid- and high-frequency magnetic devices; the thickness of the nanocrystalline ultra-thin ribbon reaches 14-18 μm, which has a high technical threshold and barriers. Since mass production in 2019, it has focused on market expansion in emerging industries and gradually replaced the market space of traditional magnetic materials such as ferrite.

Market application

Wide and ultra-thin iron-based nanocrystalline strips have the performance advantages of low loss, high magnetic permeability, wide and ultra-thin, and are highly recognized by the high-end market. They are widely used as key strategic materials in the new generation of information technology, smart grid, rail transit, and new energy. Automobiles and other fields will support hundreds of billions of industrial clusters; due to the manufacturing cost advantage of continuous production, magnetic component products are also widely used in home appliances (microwave ovens, air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, LED TVs, air purifiers, dishwashing) Traditional industries such as machines, ovens, water heaters, etc.), various power sources (UPS, PC computers, servers, medical, etc.), welding machines and photovoltaic inverters have achieved good economic and social benefits. In addition to the above applications, it can also be applied to medium and large-capacity power electronic high-frequency transformers to support the solution of large-scale grid integration of wind and solar energy and other renewable energy in the smart grid.

The research and development of this product has directly promoted the high-end, miniaturization and intelligence of China's inductive reactance power electronic devices and equipment, and promoted the upgrading of power transformers, providing new energy vehicles, power electronics, smart grids, and new-generation communications in China. The rapid development of, rail transit, wireless charging, consumer electronics and other fields has provided key core basic materials, which have improved China's independent guarantee capabilities, independent innovation capabilities, technological breakthroughs and industrial development in high-power power electronic equipment.
