Tohoku University cooperated with Nipponham to successfully use the bone regeneration induction material OCP / Collagen (Bonarc) developed by Tohoku University for bone defect repair in the field of dental and oral surgery

Tohoku University of Japan and Nipponham cooperated to successfully use the bone regeneration induction material OCP / Collagen (Bonarc) developed by Tohoku University for bone defect repair in the field of dental and oral surgery. Since 2015, the material has been clinically tested in 9 partner institutions, including Tohoku University, and has recently obtained manufacturing and sales licenses, which will begin sales in the fall of 2019.

OCP / Collagen is a composite material with the goal of bone regeneration. It is composed of octacalcium phosphate and medical collagen. Tested by animal experiments and clinical trials, sponge-like OCP / Collagen shows three major advantages: one is to achieve bone regeneration without supplementing cells and growth factors; the other is that the bones grown through OCP / Collagen are the same as their own bones Nature; third, the method is simple, no complicated operation and management system is needed, and the cost performance is very high.

After successful clinical trials of this material, the company recently obtained a manufacturing and sales license from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare to achieve productization. It can be used at various institutions, including general practitioners, for bone regeneration treatment, and it is expected to help patients with various bone defects around the world.
