Toray Industries announced a breakthrough in its supply chain, which will enable its Nylon Primeflex fabrics to face the global market.
Since its introduction five years ago, Nylon Primeflex fabric has been the favorite of some Toray customers on the Japanese market. Smaller yarn production capacity means lower output, so inventory is quickly purchased.
But now, manufacturers around the world can use Nylon Primeflex fabric to experience its four-way stretch, wear resistance and smooth and quiet feel.
The fabric itself is an improved stretch nylon, using a two-component structure, mixing two different types of nylon polymer in a single yarn. In addition, the new version also uses some bio-based nylon materials to keep the 20-year-old Primeflex product line in sync with consumer preferences.
Toray engineers have made a series of significant technological breakthroughs in the development of new Primeflex:
-Two-component nylon fiber bonds two nylon polymers with different properties into a single thread. The result is that blended yarns are both stretchable and soft, and are a key element in the sports and leisure markets.
-The two-component structure overcomes the stretch and stretch recovery problems that limit the use of nylon, even for warp yarns in woven fabrics. This allows the fabric to conform to the contours of the body in motion, and it can also return to its original shape from the stretched state.
-Toray engineers also developed a new texturing process to solve capacity limitations and achieve sales to the European and North American markets. This new fiber will be suitable for future development applications, such as waterproof and moisture permeability.
The performance, stretchability and sustainability of the new Primeflex make it an ideal choice for down products (such as jackets and vests) as well as the middle layer, sports and leisure and outdoor sports / casual wear.
These latest advances in high-performance, sustainable production have enabled Toray to take a greater step towards material development and diversified applications for its new Primeflex in its domestic and foreign markets.
