TOYO TANSO has decided to expand its semiconductor production equipment and basic material production capacity in Japan and the United States.
Previously, TOYO TANSO had decided to expand its investment in factories around the world, such as in China and Italy. However, with the high demand for silicon carbide (SiC) power semiconductors for electric vehicles (EVs), Dongyang Carbon has decided to further expand its production capacity.
It is expected to increase investment by 5 billion yen in Japan, and after each base completes the capital increase, the production capacity is expected to triple to the current level by 2028.
The production increase planned by TOYO TANSO this time is a carbonized silicon wafer base called "Susceptor". By 2028, TOYO TANSO plans to add coating equipment for adjusting substrate base thickness at its factories in Kagawa Prefecture, Japan and Oregon, USA.
