Toyoda Gosei invests in Ball Wave Inc. to jointly develop UVC LED sensors

On November 30, Toyoda Gosei announced that it had invested 100 million yuan (approximately RMB 6.3 million) in Japan's Ball Wave Inc. in November, and the two parties will cooperate in the development of sensors using Toyoda Gosei deep ultraviolet LED technology. .

According to data, Ball Wave is a start-up from Tohoku University in Japan. It was established in 2015 and is dedicated to the development of practical applications of spherical surface acoustic wave (SAW) sensors. This sensor uses the self-collimation phenomenon of surface acoustic wave technology, which has been predicted by researchers at Northeastern University and confirmed through experiments, and can quickly detect various substances in the air and other nano-scale gases.

Through this cooperation, the two parties will make full use of Toyota Gosei's surface treatment technology, such as coating technology and electroplating technology used in the development and production of automotive interior and exterior products, to develop coatings that can improve the performance of spherical surface acoustic wave sensors. In the future, both parties will focus on developing sensors that can detect viruses in the air, combined with Toyota Gosei's UVC LED technology.

At the end of September, Toyoda Gosei announced a joint virus inactivation experiment with the Japanese non-profit organization Biomedical Science Association (Biomedical Science Association), confirming that its deep ultraviolet LED module can kill 99.999% of the new crown virus in 5 seconds.

In the future, Toyoda Gosei will continue to cooperate with start-ups that are expected to combine its core technologies to solve social problems.
