TPI Composites Inc, the largest independent manufacturer of composite blades in the United States, signs a multi-year supply agreement with Vestas

TPI Composites, the largest independent manufacturer of composite blades in the United States, announced on January 11 that the company has signed a multi-year supply agreement with Vestas. According to the plan, TPI Composites' new blade plant in the Greater Chennai region of India will officially start production in the first quarter of 2020. TPI will use four (or more) production lines in the new plant to provide supporting blades for the wind turbines that Vestas puts in India and other overseas markets, and the excess capacity can also serve other wind power customers.

"The new plant in India will become an important blade manufacturing base for TPI Composites worldwide. We are honored that Vestas can become the first customer of the new plant in India." said Steve Lockard, President and CEO of TPI Composites.

Vestas Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Jean-Marc Lechene said: “TPI Composites is an important partner of Vestas. In the process of Vestas’ deployment in the global wind power industry, we are very happy to receive TPI’s recovery. The long-term support and help of the wind power industry has provided high-quality and cost-effective blade products for the wind power market. The signing of this supply agreement confirms Vestas’s consistent emphasis on the Indian wind power market. We will continue to increase investment and create Employment will build India into an important manufacturing base for the global wind power industry."

According to TPI Composites, the company currently produces and supplies blades for Vestas in the wind power markets in China, Turkey and Mexico.
