At the first International Composites Summit to be held in London from September 8 to 9, 2021, Trelleborg’s Applied Technology business unit launched Soteria FRV, a new ultra-lightweight refractory developed through the company’s proprietary resin system. The company stated that the Soteria FRV weighs only 1.2 kg/m2, which is ultra-lightweight and extremely flexible. It can be shaped according to any size area; it can also be covered or wrapped on irregular contours. When combined with the Soteria FR1500 panel, it can provide lightweight protection for electric vehicle battery boxes and casings. It can also be used as a standalone option for applications that reduce fire risk.
Trelleborg’s Soteria FRV material can be flame-resistant for up to 90 minutes at +1100oC, and will not burn through or swell in a fire. Once in place, Soteria FRV requires no ongoing maintenance and is easy to transport and install, making it suitable for new and upgraded applications.
