TRUMPF Laser brings 3D printing and marking solutions to the China Medical Device Design and Manufacturing Exhibition: Medtec

Medtec China Exhibition and the 16th International Medical Device Design and Manufacturing Technology Exhibition will kick off in Shanghai on September 14. As a global leader in the field of high-end equipment, TRUMPF Group of Germany will bring 3D printing and marking Laser technology, such as precision cutting and welding, will be unveiled, and the spot will focus on showing the corrosion-resistant deep black marking of medical equipment.

"Since TRUMPF launched the world's first industrial laser equipment in 1985, our products have been fully verified in the industry. The high reliability of the products and deep insights into the process are the advantages of TRUMPF." General Manager of TRUMPF China Laser Technology Mr. Huang Zhe said, “Our laser application center in Taicang, Jiangsu can provide customers with various application support such as testing and process consulting. With this Medtec, we hope to bring Germany’s most advanced medical device manufacturing technology to more domestic Colleagues, to help China's medical industry achieve high-quality development."

3D printing opens up new areas for customized orthopedic implants

Orthopedic implants represented by acetabular cups (joint implants) and intervertebral fusion cages (spine implants) have developed rapidly. Since everyone's bones are very different, in actual operation, there are usually two kinds of standardized implants and customized implants. Customized implants are usually easier to implant and can help patients recover faster. Based on its own digital advantages, 3D printing technology (also known as "additive manufacturing") can effectively meet personalized and precise medical treatment. In particular, this technology can realize a fine and complex porous structure of bionic trabecular bone, which is beneficial for patients to recover faster.

Mass production of high-quality intervertebral fusion cages using TRUMPF TruPrint 2000 metal 3D printing equipment

The latest TruPrint 2000 released by TRUMPF Group is equipped with a powder preparation station, which can realize unpacking printing parts and powder processing in an inert protective gas, and unused powder will be recycled. This design is essential for orthopedic implants such as titanium alloys, because such materials can react quickly with oxygen. At the same time, TruPrint 2000 metal 3D printing equipment is equipped with two TRUMPF 300W fiber lasers, which can be deployed in the entire molding warehouse of the printer at the same time, which greatly reduces the processing time of individual parts and allows customers to obtain more time and cost benefits. For example, it takes only 24 hours to make 19 intervertebral fusion cages. In addition, the device uses a spot diameter of only 55 microns, and can print high-quality implants with complex and detailed structures, so that the patient's healthy bone tissue can be well attached to these structures.

Ultra-short pulse laser brings high corrosion resistance and good clarity

Due to the introduction of the UDI standard (unique device identification) in the United States and the European Union, the medical industry faces higher requirements for the traceability of its products. For surgical and medical equipment (endoscopes, implants, etc.), this means creating clear, legible and corrosion-resistant markings that can be used in subsequent daily clinical work even after multiple cleaning and disinfection cycles Maintain its high quality level. Due to its physical characteristics, the "deep black mark" using ultrashort pulse laser is very suitable for processing black matte, non-corrosive marks. This mark remains durable and clear and easy to read even after many cleaning and disinfection cycles. TRUMPF TruMark series laser marking machines can achieve fine markings on sensitive surfaces and fully meet UDI standards, ensuring the highest contrast and maximum corrosion resistance.
