Turkey TAI and Boeing sign an agreement for the production of aircraft thermoplastic composite parts

On November 12th, Turkish Aviation Industry Corporation (TAI) and Boeing signed a new cooperation agreement. Boeing will provide TAI with technical support to build a fully automated thermoplastic aerospace composite production facility to produce thermoplastic aircraft parts in Turkey, and to increase and develop Turkey`s composite production capacity.

"We are very pleased to sign a new cooperation agreement with our strategic partner Boeing," said Professor Temel Kotil, CEO of TAI. "We look forward to continuing to expand the application of new production technologies in the aviation sector. As Turkey's leading technology Company, we will have high-quality thermoplastic parts production capacity and increase investment in the field of thermoplastic composite materials, which will significantly reduce costs."

Aysem Sargin, Boeing's Turkey Project Director, said that this agreement adds new content to the long-term partnership between TAI and Boeing. "This also expands the existing technical cooperation between Boeing and Turkey under the National Aerospace Program (NAI), which is Boeing's investment plan in Turkey announced in 2017. This reflects our continued commitment to the country and partners. "

The production of thermoplastic composite parts at the TAI plant will include automated machinery and mass rapid production technology. Compared with traditional composite materials, product cycle and process costs are expected to be reduced by 30%. Boeing will provide technical and experience support in the cooperation, including training technical personnel.
