Uber plans to commercialize its uberAIR flying fleet by 2023, and researchers from the University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin) will join Uber Elevate's aviation technology team.
The uberAIR flight fleet will only launch the service to Dallas-Fort Worth and Los Angeles, and plans to conduct flight demonstrations in 2020.

The two cities were chosen because the residents of the two places are suffering from traffic congestion, and there are many opportunities for innovation and aviation flight development. Uber believes Los Angeles residents will "heavy use" uberAir, when the city will prepare for the 2028 Olympics.
Assuming that the test flight is successful by then, uberAIR and other vertical takeoff and landing flight networks may become the next wave of service trends in the sharing economy. With the advancement of technology, the distance between flying cars and current life is getting closer and closer. In the future, it will become a transportation option for smart cities and is suitable for urban areas.
