The newly built metal silicon production plant of WACKER CHEMICAL CO., LTD. In Hora, Norway is officially put into operation. The newly built furnace is one of the largest furnaces of its kind in the world, and the new production capacity has increased the total annual capacity of the Hora production base by more than 40%. The metal silicon production capacity of the Hora production site can thus meet about one-third of the total silicon demand of WACKER production sites in Germany. The new production plant is built according to the latest technical standards, with very high production efficiency and low maintenance requirements, with a total investment of about 100 million euros.
The Hora production site in Trondheim provides silicon metal for WACKER's internal production. Silicon metal is one of WACKER's most important raw materials for the production of organic silicon and ultra-pure polysilicon. WACKER currently has about 200 employees in Hora.
