Zimmer acquires biomet, creating the world’s second largest orthopedic company

The long-awaited acquisition of biomet by zimmer has finally made new progress. Recently, Zimmer announced relevant information. The new company will be named Zimmer Biomet and will become the second largest orthopedic company in the world. The acquisition will be completed in the first quarter of 2015.

David Dvrak, current president and CEO of Zimmer, will serve as president and CEO of the new company. The new company will be divided into three business units, three regions, six functional departments, and a total of 12 executives will report directly to Dvrak.

Three business units:

Adam Johnson will serve as President of the Spine, Miniature Internal Fixation, Bone Healing and Dental Business Group. He is from Biomet and currently leads Biomet's spine, micro-internal fixation and bone healing departments.

David Nolan will serve as President of the Sports Medicine, Limbs, Trauma, Biologics and Surgical Business Group. He currently leads zimmer's advanced solutions product line.

Daniel Williamson will serve as President of the Knee, Hip and Bone Cement Business Group. He currently leads the biomet reconstruction business group.

Three major areas:

Americas: Includes the United States, Canada, and Latin America and will be led by Stuart G. Kleopfer. He is currently president of Biomet's US region.

Europe-Middle East-Africa region: This region will be led by Katarzyna Mazur-Hofsaess. He currently holds senior leadership positions in the region at Zimmer.

Asia Pacific: Including China, Japan, India, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea and Southeast Asia. It will be led by Sang Yi, who currently holds senior leadership positions in the region at Zimmer.

Six functional departments:

Robin T. Barney will serve as senior vice president of global operations and logistics, from a former leadership position in the unit at Biomet.

Audrey M. Beckman will serve as senior vice president of strategic quality measures. He came from a former leadership position in the division at Zimmer.

William P. Fisher will serve as senior vice president of global human resources. He came from a former leadership position in the division at Zimmer.

Daniel P. Florin will serve as senior vice president and chief financial officer. He comes from a former leadership position in the department at Biomet.

Emmanuel O. Nyakako will serve as Senior Vice President of Global Quality, Clinical and Regulatory Affairs. He came from a former leadership position in the division at Zimmer.

Chad F. Phipps will serve as General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Secretary. He came from a former leadership position in the division at Zimmer.
