On November 5, Murata began mass production of the world's smallest and thinnest (0.5mm×1.0mm×0.2mm) MLCC multilayer ceramic capacitors, mainly for the application of electronic control functions such as automotive ADAS and automatic steering systems. Other parameters include: temperature range -55°C~125°C, capacitance 1.0μF and so on.
In recent years, with the advancement of ADAS (Advanced Driving Support System) and autonomous driving, the number of processors installed in a car has increased, and the number of multilayer ceramic capacitors has also increased. Therefore, miniaturization, high capacity, and high stability have always been challenges faced by MLCC.
In December last year, Murata developed a multilayer ceramic capacitor with a size of 0.25mm×0.125mm×0.125mm, followed by mass production promotion. There is still a big gap between the size of the capacitors produced this time, which shows that Murata's technical reserves are deep and the industry threshold is likely to rise at any time.
