Alternative to petroleum-based plastics, World Centric degradable tableware hits Target

Plant-based degradable tableware products from World Centric (Petaluma, California, USA) are now available to consumers on the websites of 750 Target and department stores and retailers across the United States. This tableware product is mainly made of unbleached renewable plant fiber and plant plastic, and the World Centric retail collection offers Target customers a sustainable alternative to traditional petroleum-based disposable plastic tableware. The launch of the collection at Target is part of the retailer's continued commitment to social impact and the environment.

"We are honored to be part of Target's target brand family," said Mark Stephany, Senior Vice President of Sales, World Centric. "Target is a leader in providing consumers with more environmentally friendly and socially conscious products .This expansion has helped us extend our plant-based degradable products to millions of families who are looking for alternatives to traditional petroleum-based disposable tableware. "

Founded in 2004, World Centric is headquartered in Petaluma, California, USA, and provides certified degradable products to the food service industry to reduce its environmental impact. The company has developed more than 250 catering services and retail products, including tableware, cutlery and food packaging. All World Centric products will become soil in commercial composting facilities.

World Centric's products now offered by Target include unbleached plant fiber plates and bowls, cutlery, straws and clear cold drink cups, as well as hot drink cups and paper straws certified under the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) guidelines. Plates and bowls can be heated in the microwave or placed in the refrigerator. They can be used for hot and cold foods below 200 ° F. This hot drink cup is lined with plant-based biomaterials, not petroleum-based plastics. Cold drink cups, straws and utensils are free of any petroleum-based plastics.

In addition to being made from fast-growing renewable materials, the entire World Centric retail line is 100% compostable, which means that all products will be converted to soil in available commercial composting facilities. These products are also chlorine-free and consume less energy than traditional disposable products. World Centric works with environmental and social organizations to help offset its carbon emissions.

Since 2009, World Centric has used at least 25% of its pre-tax profits to support projects that promote social and economic development, environmental education and waste reduction around the world. This year, the company will donate more than $ 1 million to projects around the world through cash and product donations that focus on providing basic needs for poor communities.
