According to Japanese media reports, AIST has developed wire grid polarizers with low reflectivity and high durability. AIST claims that the wire grid polarizers they developed are more durable, more transparent, and more reflective than ordinary polarizers on the market, and the reflectivity of the polarizers is reduced to one-tenth of the polarizers on the market.

It is understood that traditional wire-grid polarizers have the characteristics of high polarization, high transmittance, and thinness, but this type of polarizer uses a metal film to achieve high reflectance and is not used in the field of glasses or the automotive industry.

On the one hand, since the in-vehicle device and the liquid crystal projector are in a high-temperature and high-humidity environment with high-intensity light, the polarizer is required to have high durability, heat resistance, and humidity resistance. On the other hand, for optical devices such as liquid crystal projectors and displays, the suppression of reflected light is still a problem, so polarizers applied to these devices need to have low reflectivity.

The polarizer developed by AIST uses a metal ink to construct the structure of the wire grid polarizing element. Using the characteristics of the traditional wire grid polarizer, a low grid wire polarized light with a polarization degree of 99% or higher and a reflectance of 5% or less sheet. According to the company, the polarizer has heat resistance, moisture resistance, anti-glare and abrasion resistance, so it can be used in fields such as eyeglasses and the automotive industry that were previously difficult to apply.

In addition, AIST has also developed a CNT transparent conductive film. The film can maintain the resistance value for a long time in a high temperature and high humidity environment with a temperature of 85 ° C and a relative humidity of 85%. Because the structure of the composite film of CNT and polymer acid in this film is very stable, it can maintain its structure even in harsh environments, and has a very strong function of bending, expanding and shrinking.
