Asia’s first offshore wind turbine carbon fiber blade plant breaks ground

Tianli, an offshore wind power blade manufacturing company, will invest 3 billion yuan to build a factory in 21 hectares of land in Taichung Port Industrial Zone (II) in two phases. Among them, the first phase of the plant was built on November 7, 2018, and is scheduled to be completed in November 2019. It will begin mass production of carbon fiber blades of more than 80 meters required for 9.5MW (megawatt) wind turbines in 2020, with an annual output value of Ten billion yuan, is expected to become Asia's largest offshore wind turbine carbon fiber blade manufacturing center.

At the same time, including Tianli, Taiwan Glass, Formosa Taililang, Shangwei, Chunyu, Huali, Huahong, Taiwan Ship Corrosion Protection, Nanbao Resin, Jiuyang Precision, Tsuen Hong Materials, Aofeng Technology, Advanced Recovery 14 companies or units, such as the Wood and Composite Materials Association, have jointly established the "Offshore Wind Power Blade Industry Alliance" in an attempt to jointly build the "Asia-Pacific Offshore Wind Power Blade Industry Chain Center" to make Taiwan China the Asia-Pacific wind power blade industry base.

Tianli is the only manufacturer of "MW-class" wind turbine blades in Taiwan, China. Its Taichung plant will manufacture wind turbine blades, storage and related proprietary patent businesses in the future, and export its products to Japan and Southeast Asia.

Tianli Taichung Wind Turbine Blade Factory plans to produce ultra-long carbon fiber blades of more than 80 meters required for 9.5MW wind turbines. The trial production is expected at the end of 2019 and mass production will begin in 2020. It is estimated that it will drive the wind power blade industry chain, components, and Composite materials and other industries create thousands of job opportunities in the industry and create an industry output value of 96.25 billion yuan. Among them, it can create an annual output value of 20 billion yuan.

Lin Yijie, chairman of Tianli, stated that the Taichung plant will be the first carbon fiber blade plant for offshore wind turbines in Asia and the longest commercialized carbon fiber blade plant. After the first phase of the plant is put into operation, one "2" Carbon fiber blades above 80 meters ", with an annual output of up to 150 pieces and a planned annual output value of 10 billion yuan. After the second phase of the factory's mass production, the planned annual output value can be doubled again.

Lin Yijie said that in addition to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' MVOW with partner manufacturers, Tianli customers are actively seeking orders from Hitachi, Siemens Gamesa, GE, Vestas, and Enercon in order to build the company into the wind power industry circle. "TSMC".

Lai Jinlin, deputy chairman of Tianli, who is also the convener of the Blade Industry Alliance, pointed out that looking at Asia, currently only China and India have wind power blade plants, and Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Australia and Southeast Asian countries have no wind power blade plants. Among them, the Indian market still needs to rely on imports, and the offshore wind turbine blades in mainland China have just started to develop 4MW to 6MW.
