Austrian technology company Miba launches new electric vehicle battery cooling system that can be applied to any shape of battery

Austrian technology company Miba has developed a battery cooling system for electric vehicles that adapts to the shape of the battery and opens up new paths for the design of battery packs.

In the research and development of electric-driven cars, one of the most important challenges facing R & D personnel is the thermal management of the battery. Battery thermal management is critical to the car's range and battery life, and it is also a necessary condition for fast charging. . The current development trend is liquid cooling, but the main challenge encountered in development is how to establish the best thermal connection between the battery and the heat sink. Austrian technology group Miba has developed a cooling system, FLEXcooler, with a very flexible shape that can be adapted to any battery.

Miba FLEXcooler tightly connects the battery to it and is the only liquid cooling system on the market that can absorb and dissipate heat. The new system does not require a filler to fill the gap between the battery and the cooling system. In addition, Miba FLEXcooler is very light and can be used for diamond batteries, cylindrical batteries and battery packs.

Currently, Miba is working with a European car manufacturer and other partners to work on the European Union's research project "i-HeCoBatt" (heating and cooling solution to increase the range of electric vehicle battery packs) and equip FLEXcooler with sensors to make it smart Into. The sensor can provide the vehicle's control system with information about the temperature distribution of the battery, so that the battery can control and optimize its function during operation, and ultimately improve the performance of the battery and increase its service life.
