Automotive lighting and electronics specialist HELLA dual voltage battery management system

Automotive lighting and electronics expert HELLA is committed to fully achieving the development of new energy vehicles for customers. HELLA provides solutions for all stages of electrification, including battery sensors for micro-hybrid (automatic start-stop) models, drive electronics based on 48V technology and suitable for light-hybrid models, and battery electronics for high-voltage systems of fully-hybrid and pure electric models. . On October 28th and 29th, Hella participated in the 2019 China International Electric Vehicle Conference (EVTec 2019), explaining the company's strategic approach to new energy.

The development momentum of electric vehicles continues to increase. In particular, China has become a leading market in this field and has led development. For Hella, such development contains a lot of opportunities. One of the focuses is the development of battery module solutions for non-pure electric vehicles, focusing on light hybrid models. The new solution can save 5 to 6 grams of carbon dioxide emissions per kilometer of the car while driving, and can meet emission regulations in the short term.

Dual voltage battery management system meets 12V and 48V electrical system requirements for compact and mid-range models

The dual voltage battery management system is a key product to develop. The product uses the space of traditional 12V batteries to integrate the functions of 48V and 12V batteries. The new battery module solution is more lightweight and space-saving, and is easy to apply to existing vehicle architectures. The intelligent circuit of the battery unit allows the use of lithium-ion batteries in 12V and 48V vehicle electrical systems, depending on the application. The solution provided by HELLA is mainly targeted at compact and mid-range models, and mass production is planned to begin in 2023. For large, medium and high-end vehicles with large output power, Hella has developed a 48V battery pack to assist in the realization of lightweight hybrids.

For nearly 20 years, HELLA has been improving driving efficiency with its innovative solutions for batteries and drive electronics. Through years of accumulation, Hella will continue to actively shape the development of electrification and make outstanding contributions to green travel.
