BASF builds PBAT in China: Engineering Plastics (Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT) and Polyamide (PA), Copolymer of Polybutylene Terephthalate and Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBAT)) And thermoplastic polyurethane new production line

On September 5th, Zhanjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone released the "Basf (Guangdong) Integrated Project (New Construction Engineering Plastics and Thermoplastic Polyurethanes and Supporting Public Works) Environmental Impact Report for Public Comment before Approval".

Project Introduction

BASF Integrated Base (Guangdong) Co., Ltd. was established in 2019. It plans to invest USD 10 billion in the East Island Petrochemical Industrial Park in Zhanjiang, Guangdong, to build a 100% wholly-owned integrated base.

This project is the first phase of BASF's (Guangdong) integration project, with a total investment of US $ 219.6 million, equivalent to RMB 1.541919 billion, and new engineering plastics and thermoplastic polyurethanes and supporting public works. The main products of this project are engineering plastics (polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) and polyamide (PA), copolymers of butylene adipate and butylene terephthalate (PBAT)) and Thermoplastic polyurethane. Among them, engineering plastics build a total of 6 production lines with a total capacity of 160,000 tons / year, of which 3 production lines have recently been built with a capacity of 80,000 tons / year, and 3 production lines in the long term have a capacity of 80,000 tons / year. Thermoplastic polyurethane builds a production line, producing 32,000 tons / year.

The project is scheduled to start construction in April 2020. The engineering plastics project will be put into operation in 2022 in the near future, the long-term project will be put into operation in 2026, and the TPU unit will be put into operation in 2023.
