BASF Nutrition Brand Newtrition® Asian Research Fund Project Launches Call for Proposals 2018

Research proposals need to focus on the three themes of cardiovascular health, metabolic health, physical function, and sports health

The five winners of the proposal will each receive up to 40,000 euros in research funding to support research efforts to improve consumer health in the Asia-Pacific region

New Trition®, a human nutrition brand of BASF, launched the sixth BASF Newtrition® Asian Research Fund project on March 26. This innovative science-based research project aims to fund and support scholars in the Asia-Pacific region to study nutrition issues and promote the region Consumer diet and health research.

This year's research will focus on “beyond basic nutrition” for the first time, focusing on three key areas: cardiovascular health, metabolic health, physical function and sports health. Potential projects will examine the links between functional food ingredients and key health areas. Rather than focusing on raw materials, this year will ensure that research funds and consumers ’changing nutritional needs are closely linked to health needs.

The solicited proposals will be reviewed and selected by a jury composed of well-known scholars and key opinion leaders in the field of human nutrition. In the end, five winners will be selected, each receiving a prize of up to 40,000 Euros and 18 months to complete their respective projects.

Since its establishment in 2012, the fund has provided funding for about 28 projects from China, India, Australia, Thailand, Singapore, and Indonesia, among which the results include six scientific papers that have been well received by the industry.
