BASF recently launched a high-grade thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer (TPU), which can not only significantly improve the production process of shoe support sheets and decorative parts in high-performance footwear, but also bring excellent mechanical properties such as UV resistance. The new Elastollan® TPU grade is compatible with automation at the same time, and parts can be easily demolded, giving footwear decorative parts greater design freedom.

The new Elastollan grade requires a lower injection temperature, which can shorten the processing cycle of shoe support pieces, achieve stronger low-temperature tortuous performance, and are easier to demold. The support piece is located between the midsole and the outsole and is an integral part of the supportive structure. It is usually made of rigid material, which strengthens the outsole while supporting the sole to make it more stable.

With its rigidity, this new grade is an ideal material solution for both sports and leisure products, such as snowboard glue for fixing ski boots and snowboards.
