BASF’s polyurethane spray foam technology Elastoflex creates a comfortable driving environment

BASF's polyurethane spray foam technology creates a seamless seal, more design flexibility, thermal insulation and sound insulation, and full-water foam environmental protection technology meets VOC emission standards.

Elastoflex spray foam is a two-component polyurethane composition that can be sprayed onto the underbody of a bus body using a spray gun. Because spray foam can adapt to the shape of the underlying substrate, Elastoflex offers greater design flexibility than traditional thermal insulation foam. Thanks to the lower thermal conductivity, this foam can also reduce heat transfer, thereby regulating the cabin temperature and making the interior temperature more stable and comfortable.

Elastoflex's environmentally friendly materials have a density of only 8-10 kg / m3, resulting in significant weight and cost savings. Compared to traditional rigid spray foams, this lightweight foam can reduce weight by up to 60%, thereby reducing overall fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Elastoflex's open-cell structure is also acoustically damped for a more peaceful interior environment.

In addition, the Elastoflex spray foam system not only has extremely low VOC emissions, but also includes a special flame retardant design to help customers pass stringent flame retardant requirements.

Thanks to the Elastoflex® polyurethane insulation system, noise from buses and other commercial vehicles will be significantly reduced, while the ride experience will be more comfortable. This spray-coated open-cell flexible polyurethane foam can form a seamless air-tight seal in the bus compartment, thereby effectively reducing heat loss, noise and vibration. As the insulation and sound insulation performance is significantly improved, the heating and cooling costs of buses are correspondingly reduced, which greatly improves passenger comfort.

"This new spray foam technology is a safe and easy-to-use alternative for the transportation industry," said Bao Leiwei, senior vice president of BASF's Performance Materials Asia Pacific. In addition, this fully water-foamed flexible foam also Helping customers meet the requirements of increasingly stringent volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions from the air in their vehicles. "
