Bombardier said it will play a key role in future Airbus composite wing plans. Compared to other European manufacturers, Bombardier has the expertise to design and manufacture innovative carbon fiber wings for the A220 aircraft.
Bombardier to play important role in future Airbus composite wing project
The company is eager to participate in the wing design of Airbus' next-generation aircraft. Airbus acquired Bombardier's "CSeries" aircraft program in July 2018 and changed its name to A220. However, Bombardier retained the intellectual property of the wing portion of the project, and the Bombardier Aerospace Structural and Engineering Services (BAES) manufacturing plant continued to serve as Airbus' wing supplier.
