CEAD strengthens cooperation with Siemens to realize industrial 3D printing of large fiber-reinforced composite parts

CEAD, a leading technology provider of 3D printing equipment for 3D printing large glass and carbon fiber reinforced composite parts, has strengthened its cooperation with Siemens.

CFAM Prime is the first 3D printer developed by CEAD using its patented Continuous Fiber Additive Manufacturing (CFAM) technology, with an average printing speed of 15 kg / h, which enables the gantry 3D printing system to be used in a relatively short time Large fiber-reinforced thermoplastic parts (4m × 2m × 1.5m) are printed inside.

This large-scale 3D printing system is controlled by Siemens Sinumerik 840D sl, which can ensure the accuracy of movement.

The newly developed AM Flexbot includes Siemens Sinumerik CNC and Run MyRobot / Direct Control, a Comau robot arm and CEAD single screw extruder.

Using Comau and Sinumerik Run MyRobot / Direct Control solutions, the robot's motion is fully integrated into the CNC system, which can meet the extremely high motion accuracy requirements of complex robots, not only ensuring the correct deposition of materials, but also ensuring that the components Mill to the final contour.

The combined machine is now ready to go on the market, and at the same time, CEAD is also considering adding other functions to the solution.

Lucas Janssen, one of the founders of CEAD and the company ’s operations director, explained: “In our latest solution, by using Siemens’ Sinumerik Run MyRobot / Direct Control and a Comau robot arm, we are able to provide a scalable modular system Meet the customer's requirement of 'adding many different functions at any time.' "

Siemens will also install a CEAD 3D printing system at its Additive Manufacturing Experience Center (AMEC) in Erlangen, Germany, to demonstrate the potential of large-scale additive manufacturing using thermoplastic composite materials.

Customers can fully understand the real industrial additive manufacturing use cases realized by Siemens' seamlessly integrated digital tool chain and advanced automation technology suitable for various additive technologies.

Since opening in April 2018, more than 4,000 customers and industry professionals have visited AMEC.
