Celanese acquires one of the world's largest independent thermoplastic blend manufacturers-the complete product portfolio of engineering thermoplastics and thermoplastic elastomers under the Italian SO.F.TER. Group, as well as all customer agreements and all manufacturing , Technology and business equipment. A final agreement has been signed.
According to reports, this acquisition will nearly double the number of Celanese engineered material product platforms. In addition, SO.F.TER.'S production equipment and product portfolio will provide a medium for additional growth, investment and synergies.
Celanese expects to complete the acquisition in the fourth quarter of 2016. Until the transaction is officially completed, the SO.F.TER. Group will continue to operate independently.
